this came from the life of frederick douglass, this qoute is saying learing how to read is a escape through slavery to freedom. becaus eback in the day slaves couldnt know how to read and write because whites though that if they did they would have power.

THAT QUOTE IS FROM THE FREDRICK DOUGLASS BOOK. I THINK THAT THE QUOTE MEAN YOU NEED AN EDUCATION TO GET FROM POINT A TO POINT B. AND TO GET WHERE YOU NEED TO GO YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN EDUCATION OR AT LEAST KNOW SOMETHING!!!!!
